Why chess for kids

More than a game, a skill for life

What parents notice after a few months of regular chess.

Sharper focus

Chess trains kids to sit with one problem and think it through.

Better decisions

Every move is a choice. Kids learn to think before they act.

Patience and resilience

Losing a game, learning from it, and trying again.

Problem solving

Puzzles build the same logic used in maths and science.

Healthy screen time

Screen time that builds the brain, not just passes time.

Confidence

Winning a game they worked for is a real confidence boost.

Beginner questions

Everything parents of first-time players ask.

My child has never played chess. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Most of our students started from zero. The first class begins with how each piece moves.

Which format is best for a beginner?

Affordable Group, Group, or 1:2 Duo is a great low-cost way to start and learn the basics. Your child can move to 1:1 for more personal attention.

Do we need to buy a chessboard?

No. Classes happen on an online board. A physical board is nice for practice but not required.

How long before my child can play a full game?

Most beginners play their first full game within the first few classes, depending on age and practice.

What is the right age to start chess?

Our beginner program is built for ages 6 to 16. If your child is younger, mention it in the form and we will advise honestly.

Is it boring for kids?

Lessons are short, interactive and full of puzzles and mini-games. The coach adjusts pace to keep your child engaged.

What do beginner classes cost?

Affordable Group is ₹200 per class (₹1,600 for 8 classes, batch of 8 students). Group is ₹375 per class (₹3,000 for 8 classes, batch of 5 students). 1:2 Duo is ₹550 per class (₹4,400 for 8 classes). 1:1 Individual is ₹750 per class (from ₹5,999 for 8 classes). You only decide after the free class. Enrollment and payments are arranged directly with UpZen, outside this website.
